The Inevitable Price Rise

"Sarah and I want to thank you for an excellent morning’s tuition today - it was both instructive and enjoyable.
Three things in particular struck us. You asked us what would be valuable to us, given our skill levels, and then you tailored the tuition to meet our needs. You delivered the tuition in a clear and supportive way, leaving us more competent and confident than when we had met. And you did not bring your own camera, so you devoted all of the time to supporting us rather than taking your own photographs. As a result of this approach, you enabled us to pack a lot of learning into a morning.
And the time flew by - we really enjoyed ourselves, too.
So thank you. We knew you were a very talented photographer. This morning you showed us you’re also a skilled trainer. The two don’t always go together. We look forward to working with you again."

I was a teacher for over 20 years and now put what I learned during that time into teaching photography. This means that my workshops have defined outcomes (agreed upon before we start), a variety of tasks, questions and activities designed to help you reach those outcomes alongside immediate feedback and discussion to ensure your understanding. I love being outside, particularly with my camera, and I make sure that this enthusiasm translates into our sessions; they are relaxed and enjoyable but these aspects are always combined with a sense of purpose. Many of my sessions are for people who have a new camera and want to know what all of the buttons do, or how to get the best from the variety of settings available; others are aimed at improving your compositions, choosing and using creative techniques or assessing and getting the most from a location. The choice is yours.

The full details of my workshops and how to book one can be found on this page.

Each year, a number of people buy a workshop voucher from me as a Christmas present for someone else, or they contact me just after the festivities to book one as part of their New Year's resolutions, determined to improve their own photography.

After keeping prices of workshops the same for about five years, I have reluctantly decided to raise them in the New Year. The new prices will be on my website in early January, but I wanted to make sure you all knew this was coming in plenty of time should you be thinking of joining me for a workshop next year. My dates are flexible but we do need to find a time that works for everyone involved, and we do this through email or telephone as soon as possible after the booking is confirmed.

If you wish to book a workshop or purchase a voucher as a gift before the price increase, please look at this page where you will find all of the details, including how to book.
