A wonderful opportunity to have a look at the work of may of the area's local artists over one weekend.

Green Door Art Trail
27th, 28th and 29th September 2019

The Green Door Art Trail is a free, annual event that gives everyone the opportunity to see the work of local artists, chat with them about their techniques and inspirations (or anything else for that matter) and, if you like what you see, make a purchase. A wide variety of artistic mediums and styles will be found, from painting, sculpture and ceramics, to jewellery, prints and, of course, photography and almost everything in between. The venues for the Trail can be found all over the South Lakes area and are usually artists' studios, houses or, in a few instance, a building such as a village hall where a number of artists exhibit together. You can visit as many or as few venues as you like; take half an hour or all weekend.

My hope is that you will at least come and see me and my work. This year I will be in a new venue for the Trail, Zed Photographic Studio, which is in the Factory Complex, just off Aynam Road in Kendal (more detailed directions on the map above or by following the link below). Here I will have a wide selection of my work, both old and new, in a variety of formats from greetings cards to large, framed images. Almost all of the images here on my website will be available as well as some that have not made it here yet. There is plenty of free parking at the venue, and it would be a great place to base yourself to see a number of artists in the nearby area.

As I'll be in a photographic studio this year, I thought it would be a bit of fun to offer everybody who wants one a short photo portrait session. Using the studio's set-up we'll spend five or ten minutes together trying to catch your best side and then, once the Trail is over and I've tidied everything away, I'll send you one studio-quality digital portrait, completely free. You will, of course, have to rely on me to choose the best image! However, if you don't want to sit in front of the lights with a camera pointed at you, you can just browse and have look at my work - it's entirely up to you.

If you're keen to see the work of other artists on the Trail, there are plenty of nearby options, all within walking distance. Right next door, Space2Create will be showing some of their artists' work, along with work from Imagine Senegal, a collaborative project they are involved in. A ten minute walk, across the river and into Town, will bring you to the Market Place and Green Door Studios with work from five artists. Alternatively (or additionally) a ten minute walk along the river and you will get to Castle Villa where you can see the work of Lynda and Nancy Gray. All in all, there are a further 9 venues in and around Kendal, meaning you can see a large number of artists in a small area, lots within walking distance of each other.

My opening times for the weekend will be;
Friday 26th - 6pm - 9 pm
Saturday 27th - 10am - 5pm
Sunday 28th - 10am - 4pm

Remember that it is also Kendal's Torchlight Festival over the weekend, with the parade taking place on Friday evening.

As well as great parking, there are number of refreshment options within the Factory Complex
Joey's Café - a new and exciting café will be open for great food, snacks and drinks from breakfast until 2pm on Saturday and Sunday
Bowness Bay Brewery, more specifically their bar, The Barrel House will be open 3pm to 11pm Friday and Saturday and 12 noon to 9pm Sunday
The Factory Tap will be open 3pm till 11 on Friday and Saturday, 3 till 9 on Sunday. They will have beans and lentils available all weekend and sausages on Friday.
Why not have a look at the Torchlight Parade on Friday evening followed by a look at my work before finishing off the evening with a little refreshment at one of these wonderful places? Perfect.
